FireFly, what’s that? Firefly is a small device that makes using a fire stove easier, more enjoyable, more economic and better for the environment. It also helps you maintain a constant and comfortable temperature in your sitting room. We have now used FireFly in our own home for two years while I developed it, and we really like it.

What does FireFly do? In brief, FireFly alerts you when you need to add fire wood in you stove. In this way it makes it easy to fire correctly. You save fire wood and save the environment for unnecessary pollution. Smoke resulting from improperly burned wood contains many chemical substances that are considered harmful such as hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), fine particle pollution (ash), and volatile organic compounds (VOC).

How to order: To order, please email me on arj@gate3a.com and we will figure out the details.  FireFly costs DKK 480 (approximately €65 or US$73) plus local taxes and shipping costs. A lead-time of up to one month shall be expected.

How does FireFly work? FireFly hangs on the wall 3 to 6 feet from the fire stove. It uses an infrared thermometer to measure the the temperature of the stove and it also measures the room temperature. FireFly's built in microprocessor continuously analyzes those temperatures, and when it determines the optimal time to add fire wood, it alerts you by an audible signal. FireFly is battery driven and since it measures the stove temperature optically, installation is straight forward. A nail in the wall to hang it on, and you are up and running. The battery lasts one year.

What is a "Pioneer Customer"? A Pioneer Customer is one of the first 50 customers to buy a FireFly. Those customers receive the very first produced version of FireFly. Such a FireFly will have full functionality - but have its design updated later on. It is now a discreet plastic enclosure equipped with a couple of push buttons, a sounder, and an infrared eye. As a Pioneer Customer you will get outstanding customer support, and any feedback from you will be used in a constructive way to improve FireFly. Being a Pioneer Customer entitles you to have your Firefly updated to the latest software version at any time so that you'll benefit from all improvements. Also, when I make new mechanics, you can have your Pioneer-device replaced by a new one.
